Tennessee is a 2008 drama film produced by Lee Daniels. V V S Films has acquired all Canadian rights for the movie,[1] while the U.S. rights is owned by Lee Daniels Entertainment.

The premiere of Tennessee took place at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26, 2008.[2][3]

Vivendi Entertainment has acquired all U.S. rights to "Tennessee".[4][5]

"Tennessee" will be released to select theaters in March, 2009.[6]

Synopsis[]

Two brothers, Carter (Adam Rothenberg) and Ellis (Ethan Peck), embark on a journey from New Mexico to find their estranged father in the hopes of saving Ellis, who has been diagnosed with terminal leukemia. Along the way they meet Krystal (Mariah Carey), an aspiring singer, who flees from her controlling husband (Lance Reddick) to join them on their journey.[7]

Mariah Carey co-wrote "Right to Dream" with Willie Nelson and performed it with Nelson's harmonica player, Mickey Raphael, for the movie's soundtrack.[8]

"It's not really country," says Nelson, "It's more Mariah."

"Right to Dream" is being pushed for an Academy consideration in the "Best Song" category.

"Right to Dream," Mariah's original ballad co-written with Willie Nelson for the film Tennessee, went for adds at Adult Contemporary (AC) radio on Monday, October 20, 2008.[9][10]

"Right to Dream" is now available for digital download at iTunes Canada[11].The song is set for digital release in the U.S. on December 2, and can be downloaded from iTunes and Amazon.[12]
