Rock in Rio is a recurring music festival originating in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, later branching into other locations such as Lisbon, Madrid and Las Vegas. Mariah Carey was announced as a headliner of the 10th edition of the festival on March 19, 2024 and performed on the Sunset Stage on September 22, 2024.

Following the diamond certification of "I Want to Know What Love Is" in Brazil on July 9, 2024, Carey stated on X that she "[guesses she] should sing it when [she's] there! #rockinrio2024," referencing her appearance at the music festival.

Promotion

On July 29, 2024, Carey taped an interview for Brazilian variety show Fantástico with journalist Ana Carolina Raimundi to promote Carey's shows in Brazil. The interview aired on August 25, 2024.
