#MerryChristmas30 is a hashtag that will be used to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mariah Carey's fourth studio album, Merry Christmas, originally released in 1994.

Background[]

On September 20, 2024, new vinyl and CD versions of Merry Christmas on numbered limited edition MoFi ultrasound quality, direct from the master recording, were made available for pre-order on Carey's new Official Music Store, in association with Rose City Works, which went live the same day. Additionally, more limited edition items inclusing a cassette version of the original album, a picture disc, a zoetrope vinyl, a box set featuring a new remaster of the the entire concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on vinyl and four "All I Want for Christmas Is You" physical singles, including a 7" vinyl single, a cassette single, a maxi-CD single and a 12" vinyl, with blurred artwork, were also made available for pre-order. These items were also made available on third-party retailers outside the United States.

The hashtag itself was first teased on October 9, 2024, when the cover art for two of the four upcoming "All I Want for Christmas Is You" physical singles were unveiled by Carey on social media.[1] On October 15, 2024, the two remaining cover arts were revealed.[2]

A video detailing what's to come during the #MerryChristmas30 celebrations was posted by Carey on social media on November 15, 2024.[3]

  • October 31: The "Christmas Time by Mariah Carey" holiday collection went live on Carey's Amazon Store. Three new items were made available for pre-order on Carey's Official Music Store:
    • A new 3-track version of the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" CD single, set to be released on December 6, 2024.
    • A new 3-track version of the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" 12", set to be released on December 6, 2024.
    • Merry Christmas on limited edition gold metallic vinyl, released as part of the Spotify Fans First initiative, set to be released on December 13, 2024.
  • November 1: "Oh Santa!" featuring Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson was remastered in Dolby Atmos on Apple Music. A new "It's Time!" tee was made available for purchase on Carey's Amazon store. Mariah's Holiday Gift Picks, in association with Kay Jewelers, was released. Mariah Carey's Black Irish Holiday Bars, new holiday-themed pop-up bars inspired by Black Irish and "All I Want for Christmas Is You," in partnership with Virgin Hotels and Bucket Listers, were announced, with locations in New York City, Chicago, Nashville, Dallas and New Orleans.[4]
  • November 3: Carey's wax figure at Madame Tussauds New York was unveiled.[5]
  • November 8: The Merry Christmas 30th anniversary picture disc and cassette were released.
  • November 15: The digital deluxe version of Merry Christmas: 30th Anniversary Edition was announced, with a release date of December 6, 2024. Mariah Carey's Black Irish Holiday Bars opened doors until December 29, 2024.
  • November 19: Mariah Meets Rylan was announced.
  • November 22: Mariah Carey's Christmas Hour was released on BBC Sounds.
  • November 27: Two new "All I Want for Christmas Is You" singles were released in Japan: a 2-track cassette single backed with "All I Want for Christmas Is You" live at the Tokyo Dome and a 7-track version of the original 30th anniversary maxi-CD single with the Tokyo Dome performance of the song as a bonus track.
  • December 2: Mariah Mondays on SiriusXM's Holly were announced.[6]
  • December 4: Carey was announced as part of Jimmy Fallon's Holiday Seasoning Spectacular.[7]
  • December 6: The digital deluxe version of Merry Christmas: 30th Anniversary Edition and the new "All I Want for Christmas Is You" physical singles were released. A Vevo Footnotes episode breaking down the making of the "Make My Wish Come True" music video of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" featuring text commentary from Carey and Joseph Kahn was uploaded to Carey's YouTube Channel.
  • December 7: Mariah Meets Rylan aired on BBC Two.
  • December 12: the limited 30th anniversary edition deluxe box set of Merry Christmas, the Merry Christmas zoetrope vinyl, the Merry Christmas UltraDisc One-Step, the Merry Christmas 180g vinyl and the Merry Christmas hybrid SACD were released. Carey was announced as a performer on the NFL Christmas Gameday.
  • December 20: Carey appeared on Fortnite as part of Winterfest 2024.
