"Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special" is an soundtrack album by Mariah Carey. It was released through Sony and distributed by Apple Music on December 4, 2020 , and all other platforms on December 11.
The soundtrack featured contributions from Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson and others.[1]
Background[]
On August 31, 2020, Apple announced "Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special," an exclusive holiday event from Mariah Carey which was announced to debut globally on Apple TV+ during the holiday season. The new special will premiere on the heels of the 25th anniversary of Carey's iconic No. 1 holiday anthem "All I Want For Christmas Is You," and will feature the legendary icon Carey and a star-studded lineup of surprise guest appearances, in a magical holiday journey to enliven the Christmas spirit around the world.[2] The innovative special will combine music, dancing and animation driven by a universally heartwarming story that brings the world together.[2]
On October 9, 2020, Mariah posted an image of three director's chairs. On each chair the initials A.G, M.C, and J.H were labeled respectively. [3] On November 18, 2020 Mariah revealed that the guest lineup for the show will include: Tiffany Haddish, Billy Eichner, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland, The Peanuts Gang and Mykal- Michelle Harris. Additionally, this date revealed that a soundtrack album will be accompanying the TV special.

The Queen of Christmas returns with new takes on old classics as part of an Apple TV exclusive, Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special. Her renditions, collected from the companion variety show of the same name, find her tackling favorites like the jovial “Sleigh Ride” and the mellowed fireside ballads “Christmas Time Is Here” and “O Holy Night.” Always one to keep us on our toes, the legendary artist surprises with a funky, fun rendition of “Here Comes Santa Claus” with assists from Snoop Dogg and Jermaine Dupri, as well as an original and perfect ball of holiday pop in “O Santa!,” which features fellow powerhouse vocalists Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson. At every turn, she injects her diva-esque flourishes, transforming the familiar and the mundane into grand affairs of imagination.
