Following numerous rumors, leaks and being made available earlier that expected in some markets, the Barbie x Mariah Carey Holiday Celebration Doll was officially unveiled by Mattel on November 16, 2023. Priced at $75, the doll is 11.5-inches tall and was released in US stores and online on November 17, 2023. The doll is sold under the "Barbie Signature" line of dolls, which typically carry higher price points and are geared toward collectors, rather than young children.

In an exclusive interview with People, Carey gushed over the doll.[1]
“ | As a little girl, I didn't have a lot of toys or things, [...] the one thing I really wanted was Superstar Barbie. [...] When I first started working with the people at Barbie, they sent me a bunch of Superstar Barbies and it was really sweet. [...] When I saw my doll, I was like, 'Oh my gosh, this is so cute.' Because it's based on the Christmas dress that I wear in the second "All I Want for Christmas Is You" video, which was directed by Joseph Kahn. [...] If I could go back and tell my little-girl self that one day I would have a Barbie made in my likeness, I would flip out! | ” |

Carey, however, did notice a little difference between the red dress in the video and the dress miniaturized in her hands, though.
“ | They wouldn't let the 'V' in the dress be quite as low as it is in the video, [...] but I understand because it's a holiday and everything else. But I'm like, 'Oh, Barbie, very demure.' | ” |

The doll sold out in hours on Mattel's website, Target, and Amazon, prompting resellers on third-party retail websites such as eBay and Amazon to list the doll at nearly double that original price.[2]
